Ford Cougar cars for sale

Not to be confused with the rugged Ford Kuga SUV, the Ford Cougar was a four-seater coupé on sale from 1998 to 2002.

Based on the humble Mondeo, the Cougar was blessed with superb handling and sharp styling. Under the bonnet you’ll find one of two petrol engines: a 2.0-litre unit, or a 2.5-litre V6. The former is cheaper to run but rarer; the latter is more readily available, and has an appropriately sporty nature. Manual and automatic gearboxes were both offered during the Cougar’s lifetime.

The interior is borrowed from the Mondeo of the time, updated with additional sporty touches. There’s a single trim level, so all Cougars are equally well-equipped, with dual front and side airbags, air conditioning and sports seats as standard. Find one with the optional ‘X Pack’ fitted to add leather upholstery, a sunroof and a CD multi-changer.
