The Ford Edge is a new name to British drivers, launching in the UK in 2015. It’s the first large SUV from Ford in over a decade, and the first used examples are now finding their way to the market via private sellers and main dealers.

All-wheel drive is standard across the range, and there are four trim levels: Zetec, Titanium, Sport and Vignale. All are generously equipped with alloy wheels, a DAB radio, rear privacy glass, a lane-keeping aid, a rear-view camera and automatic lights/wipers. Moving up to a higher trim level adds extras including satellite navigation, front and rear parking sensors, and a powered tailgate.

Under the bonnet you’ll find one of two 2.0-litre diesel engines. There’s a 180bhp version, and a 210bhp model that comes mated to a Powershift automatic gearbox. Both engines share the same CO2 emissions and fuel economy, so there’s no extra running costs associated with opting for a more powerful version.
