Ford Sierra cars for sale

The rear-wheel drive Ford Sierra was one of the biggest-selling family cars of the 1980s, launching in 1982 and remaining on sale until the launch of the Mondeo in 1993. Early versions are now considered modern classics.

It was sold as a three-door hatchback, four-door saloon (known as the Sierra Sapphire), a five-door hatchback and a family estate. Workaday Sierras are now very rare, with most of the remaining models being the sportier RS Cosworth, XR4i and XR4x4 models. Some boast over 200bhp, creating a truly high-performance yet practical family car.

Less glamorous Sierras can still be found on occasion. Most are petrol-powered, but diesel models are occasionally found. The Sierra was facelifted twice during its lifetime, retaining the same silhouette continually but with lights and grille updated. Manual and automatic gearboxes were offered, and a range of trim levels included the top-of-the-range Ghia.
