The Honda Civic is a small family car that’s been on sale in the UK for more than three decades.

During its time, it’s been available as a three and five-door hatchback, two-door coupé, four-door saloon and five-door family estate - often with disparate styling, even if on sale at the same time. Later saloon versions feature Honda’s IMA Hybrid system to ensure low emissions and especially impressive fuel economy, and post-2006 hatchbacks all feature five doors and futuristic styling. A spacious estate was introduced in 2014.

Most used Civics use Honda’s reputable petrol engines, although post-2003 models have also been offered as a diesel. A new Civic is launching in 2017, emphasising sporty handling. The Civic Type-R is a high-performance model with huge levels of power and an emphasis on sharp handling.
