Honda Fr-V cars for sale

On sale from 2004 to 2009, the clever Honda FR-V is the unsung hero of the family MPV market, thanks to its unusual seating layout.

It seats six in two rows of three (the centre seat in the front row sliding back to ensure enough legroom for everyone), meaning nobody is crammed into tiny flip-out seats in the boot, and there’s space for luggage even when at full seating capacity. Everyone gets their own individual seat, too, so shoulder space isn’t too much of a squeeze. SE-trimmed models miss out on alloy wheels and cruise control (standard elsewhere), but every FR-V comes with climate control and four airbags.

The FR-V is powered by a range of engines: pre-2007, all are petrol-powered, with either a 1.7-litre or a 2.0-litre unit. Later cars come with either a 1.8-litre petrol or an excellent i-CTDI diesel. It’s easy to place on the road, thanks to an elevated seating position and compact, hatchback-like dimensions, and it’s surprisingly fun to drive too. Reliability is excellent.
