The Honda Stream was introduced in 2001 and remained on sale until 2005, with a facelift in 2003 bringing a slightly revised nose. It’s a mid-sized MPV based on the popular Civic hatchback, with a sporty drive that feels more like a hot hatch than a people carrier.

It was the predecessor to the six-seater FR-V, and featured a more conventional seven-seat layout with two foldaway seats in the boot. The Stream came with either a 1.7-litre VTEC or 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, both of which are flexible and deliver strong acceleration - very helpful in an MPV, especially with a full complement of passengers.

Three trim levels were offered: S, SE and SE Sport. S and SE models featured the 1.7-litre engine, and SE Sports have the larger, 153bhp 2.0-litre, which could be fitted with an automatic gearbox. If you’re looking for a self-shifter, you’ll need to go for this trim.
