In production since 2006, the original Qashqai was joined by a larger version, the Qashqai+2, two years later. As its name suggests, it provides room for two extra passengers. Just as smartly fashioned as its five-door counterpart, this versatile family crossover is also equally well-built and, considering its larger size, delivers noteworthy fuel efficiency.

This seven-seat vehicle provides the driver with an elevated and multi-adjustable position. The former ensures that forward visibility is very good, while the latter, in tandem with a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, makes finding a comfortable position easy. The Qashqai+2 delivers a comfortable ride for all of its occupants, and plenty of space too, with the rearmost row being particularly suitable for younger travellers. With the third row folded, 450 litres of boot space is available, and with the second row flipped, a 1,520-litres cargo capacity can be achieved.

Of the engine options available to the Qashqai+2, a 1.6-litre diesel unit is the most economical, returning as much as 60.1mpg and producing CO2 emissions as low as 123g/km. This engine also comes with fuel-saving Start/Stop system.

The standard Qashqai has been awarded a five-star crash-test rating by Euro NCAP. There’s no reason to suspect that the Qashquai+2 isn’t equally as safe.

The Qashqui+2 represents a good investment, particularly given Nissan’s reliability record, and the good reports that its five-seat counterpart has received.
